Our Big Project team
First, to thank the Exeter Community Centre Trustees, past and present. Without their energy, drive and sheer dogged determination, the building would have been lost to the community forever. Thanks to our local Councillors who championed our cause within their Councils and the officers and Leaders of Exeter City Council and Devon Council who had the confidence to partner with us in applications to major funders. To the other major and smaller funders – all equally important in helping us achieve our vision; – particularly The Social Investment Business; The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Power to Change, The Co-op Foundation and Viridor.
Thanks to the staff, volunteers, tenants and users of the building, our neighbours, tradespeople and residents who continued to help us provide services to the community through the Covid 19 pandemic – and through the noise of heavy building machinery!
Thanks to all the local volunteers who took part in our community heritage project. Community Researchers have found out about the history of the building and its setting in St David’s neighbourhood, acting also as Welcome Hosts to Exeter Community Centre and as Trail Guides on our newly-established St David’s Trail. Thanks, too, to the heritage experts who gave us specialist advice and help – in particular Dr Todd Gray who shaped and structured our research and Russ Liley of Freeline Graphics who curated photos, maps and designs to bring our stories to life.
